Tranquill Gardens

Philosophy
It’s simple. Tranquill Gardens is dedicated to promoting sustainable landscaping practices, including drought tolerant, California native & California-friendly planting schemes. I encourage you to consider alternatives to the water intensive traditional grass lawn and expand wildlife habitat into your own sanctuary.

A fine landscape design should unify home and garden
into a paradise which reflects you while honoring the environment.

Bio

Soleil Tranquilli was an opinionated and naïve gardener who envisioned Elk Grove’s first Community Garden in 1999. Six years later, with the help of many dedicated garden friends and supporters, the garden was finally built. Who knew a simple garden could take so long or turn so political! Meanwhile we worked with Sacramento Master Gardeners and other experts to offer local workshops in natural gardening techniques for the backyard gardener. Soleil spent those years researching Biodynamic methods, composting & vermicomposting, seed collecting, and pursuing A.A. degrees in Landscape Design and Nursery Operations from Cosumnes River College. In 2008 she completed studies with Robert Littlepage at the California School of Garden Design. Soleil currently serves on the board of Sacramento APLD as membership coordinator. In her spare time she enjoys nature on foot, yoga, movies, lazy gardening, and facilitating Hello Death! workshops. Helping people Back Into the Garden is her joy and passion.
